MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Catriona Gray on Friday said that despite the beauty queen being the subject of “red-tagging,” it will not stop her from fighting for women’s rights.

In a statement, Gray’s legal counsel Atty. Joji Alonso, also said that “Dragging Catriona’s name, when all she has endeavored to do as an advocate for women’s rights, is completely uncalled for.”

“Catriona will not waiver in continuously championing social causes that uplift women’s lives,” Alonso said.

“And while there may be people who will try, she remains steadfast in her stance that no one should be silenced in sharing their personal stories that give strength and support to fellow women who have gone through similar experiences,” the lawyer added.

This comes after Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. previously urged Gray and Liza Soberano to withdraw their support for the women’s group Gabriela.

This, after Soberano previously appeared on Gabriela Youth’s webinar titled “Mga Tinig ni Nene: Reclaiming Our Voices on the International Day of the Girl Child,” where she took a stand on the issue of violence against women and children.

Gray, meanwhile, has been notably supportive of causes involving women and children.

In an interview over ANC’s “Headstart,” Parlade even alleged that Gabriela was “part of a terrorist organization.”
