Carol Banawa earns bachelor’s degree: ‘Never too old to reach for your dreams’

Carol Banawa has added another feather in her cap: a bachelor’s degree from a university in Arizona.

The singer, 39, proudly announced that she graduated with a degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University, as per her Instagram post yesterday, Oct. 18. A photo of her in a black and purple graduation gown and cap accompanied her announcement.

“Another goal achieved!” she declared.

Banawa paid tribute to her husband Ryan Crisostomo, thanking him for “working so hard for us which allowed me to pursue my studies.”

“Thank you for always pushing me, supporting me and believing in me,” she said. She also thanked her two kids for being “patient” with her as she completed her schooling.

She encouraged others to pursue their dreams too: “Bachelor’s degree before 40. You are never too old to reach for your dreams!”

“Dream it. Believe it. Do it. Conquer it.”

Banawa is a registered nurse in the U.S. She obtained an associate degree in nursing from the Northern Virginia Community College in Washington, D.C., where she graduated summa cum laude in 2018. As the coronavirus pandemic surged in the States earlier this year, she served as a frontliner.

She has been based in the U.S. with her family after leaving the Philippines in the early 2000s. Prior to leaving her showbiz career, she was known for her songs “Tanging Yaman,” “Bakit ‘Di Totohanin” and “Iingatan Ka.”

Banawa is also expecting her third child in April 2021, she announced in September. JB
