Mark Wahlberg helped provide 1.3 million face masks to schools in the United States amid the COVID-19 pandemic through his company Performance Inspired.
The actor and his business teamed up with Accelerate 360’s lifestyle brand LifeToGo for the initiative. The donation is also Wahlberg’s way of thanking frontliners, he said in a video on LifeToGo’s YouTube page last Monday, Sept. 21.
“As you know this has been a year of change and stress for everybody but today I want to thank our essential workers,” the actor stated. “You guys have kept us healthy, safe and supplied us with all the necessities.”
“Every day brings a new challenge but we continue to pray for you and for your families and please know your efforts are much appreciated,” Wahlberg added.
A representative from LifeToGo also hopes that the face masks keep the educators safe as schools across the U.S. reopen after months of lockdown measures.
Students and teachers in areas such as Chicago, Minneapolis and Portland have already received some of the 3-ply masks, the brand said in a blog post yesterday, Sept. 22.
“We have also mounted gratitude billboards in 13 U.S. cities, thanking essential workers for their work and sacrifice,” it added. “We truly couldn’t have come this far without their efforts.”
Along with running his own company, Wahlberg continues to pursue his acting career. He last starred in the recent American drama film “Good Joe Bell”, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 14.
The award-winning actor is also set to star in an upcoming science-fiction film called “Infinite” alongside Dylan O’Brien. JB
