Catriona Gray encouraged the public to give blood after she donated her own to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
“During my visit to the Philippine Red Cross headquarters, I did a simple yet meaningful act of saving lives – donating blood!” she said on her Instagram page yesterday, Sept 18.
“Donating your blood to someone in need may just be one of the easiest ways to save a life,” she added.
Gray then pointed out that the organization’s supply of blood is “worryingly low” since many have become hesitant to visit blood banks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, she continued to urge her followers to donate and help others.
“The global pandemic may have restricted us from doing our normal routine but it should never hinder our passion to help and be compassionate towards our most vulnerable,” Gray said.

Prior to her donation, PRC introduced the Miss Universe 2018 winner as its latest ambassador earlier this month.
Along with giving blood, Gray recently helped supply 50 bicycles to residents of Pasig City. She made the donation through Gretchen Ho’s “Donate a bike, save a job” initiative amid the lockdown measures imposed due to the spread of the coronavirus. /ra
