Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has joined forces with Gretchen Ho to help with the latter’s “Donate a bike, save a job” project amid the lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fifty bicycles were given to Pasig City residents last Sunday, Ho said on Instagram earlier today, Sept. 16. The donation was also made possible with the help of Gray’s boyfriend Sam Milby, Cornerstone Talents, Secret Scents and Medigrade Philippines.

“May nabigyan na naman tayong 50 ng trabaho!! Sa ngayon 185 bikes na naipapamigay natin. Let’s put more riders on the road,” Ho noted. (We have once again given 50 people jobs! We have donated 185 bikes, as of now.)

The post came with photos of Ho, Gray and the recipients during the bike drive last Sunday, Sept. 13. It also included a short snippet of the fortunate Pasig residents riding their new bikes, wearing traffic vests and helmets also provided by Ho’s team.

Gray likewise took to Instagram earlier today to call for the public’s support to help donate bikes to others also in need.

“A bike allows Filipinos who depend on public transport, that has since been limited due to the pandemic, to safely travel to their workplace. Or a bike allows Filipinos who have recently lost their jobs to find work,” she said.

“@gretchenho is leading such an amazing initiative and hopes to fundraise to donate 1,000 bikes by the end of the year! #DonateABikeSaveAJob with us!” she added.

Ho also gave a special shout out to her manager Erickson Raymundo for having secured her 250 bikes for donation. Those who are willing to help or know someone who deserves a bike can message Ho via gretchen@womaninaction.ph. One bike is worth P3,500.

Through Ho’s initiative, she has already donated several bicycles to those in need, including 18-year-old Kean Ramos who recently went viral for delivering coffee jelly using only his rollerblades.

Angel Locsin and her “Iba ‘Yan” team also recently helped out with Ho’s project, which is in line with the latter’s Woman-in-Action initiative. They were able to provide 30 bikes to displaced stuntmen who lost their jobs due to the pandemic. JB
