MANILA, Philippines — Veteran broadcast journalist Ted Failon is moving to News5, its chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes confirmed.
During a press conference for Valdes’ upcoming talk show “Usapang Real Life” on Tuesday, she was asked if she knows any information of notable names transferring to the Kapatid network.
“Ang mako-confirm ko lang si Ted Failon, he’s moving to Radyo Singko,” the News5 answered.
(What I can confirm is Ted Failon, he’s moving to Radyo Singko.)
Radyo Singko 92.5 News FM is the radio station owned by TV5.
However, Valdes said she does not know if there will also be showbiz stars moving to TV5.
“So for news, yes I’m confirming that Ted will be joining us,” she reiterated.
However, Valdes did not mention when will Failon have his debut broadcast.
Failon bid goodbye to ABS-CBN, his home network of 30 years on Aug. 31.
In a statement, the Kapamilya network said that the closure of its radio operations “led to his painful decision” of leaving ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN has been off the air since May 5 as the National Telecommunications Commission ordered to shut down the network’s television and broadcast operations following the expiration of its 25-year franchise.
On July 10, 70 lawmakers in the House of Representatives’ legislative franchises committee voted to junk ABS-CBN’s bid for a fresh franchise.
