With ABS-CBN failing to secure a new franchise, two celebrities associated with the network, Pokwang and Ria Atayde, have found a home in TV5, where they will host a new morning talk show together with Pauleen Luna.
Titled “Chika, BESH! Basta EveryDay Super Happy,” the program, which airs weekdays beginning last Monday, aims to give the audience a dose of “good vibes,” especially in these difficult times.
“We need a show like this especially now, because this can give our viewers hope and inspiration,” Pokwang said in a statement announcing one of her projects with the Kapatid network.
“Our feeds on social media are almost filled with not so pleasant news,” Pauleen, who cohosts “Eat Bulaga!” on GMA 7 added. “I feel like we need more good news and good vibes to uplift our spirits.”
Ria, who is still with Star Magic, said it’s good to have a bit of “distraction” from all the uncertainties and stress.”
“It’s a good platform to be heard. In a time when everything seems bleak and hopeless, it’s awesome to have a show that promotes positivity and a little entertainment,” the actress said.
Line produced by Archangel Media—headed by its president and CEO, director Mike Tuviera, and COO Jojo Oconer—the talk show will also have segments that will shine the spotlight on Philippine-made products, recipes for local and foreign dishes and viral stories and videos.
“This is only the beginning of many more content Archangel Media will be producing,” Tuviera said.
Meanwhile, Pokwang, who has been promoting “Besh” on her Instagram account defended herself from bashers criticizing her new endeavor and calling it “trash.”
“Look at what’s happening around you. There’s a virus killing lives; people are losing their jobs … [and] starving. Be grateful because you are happy and have time to smile,” Pokwang—who will also host a game show, titled “Fill in the Bank” with Jose Manalo—wrote in Filipino.
“That’s the goal of these shows you call trash—they can make people happy, especially now that so many sad things are happening.” INQ
