Middling Actor (MA) was once asked to perform live in an entertainment company’s special gathering dedicated to its employees.
MA was nervous—and rightly so. His singing is slightly better than his acting … which, unfortunately, isn’t saying much.
To make matters worse, he was to go after Impressive Newbie (IN), who delivered an effortless good performance.
MA, however, jumped from one key to another. His voice inevitably cracked. And this all happened with one of the company’s top executives, Cheeky Honcho (CH), in the audience.
After the song numbers, CH got up onstage for a short speech.
CH was all praises for IN.
As for MA? “Maybe more workshops,” CH said.
