MANILA, Philippines — Instead of being irked, Daniel Padilla on Wednesday showed kindness to a tricycle driver who accidentally bumped the actor’s luxury car.
And to show that the incident did not affect him, Padilla even gave money to the tricycle driver.
Videos and photos shot by Edwil John Libay showed Padilla calmly talking to the driver who bumped his car. The actor was even game to take pictures with spectators who got to see Padilla up close.
According to Jessica De Vera Tamayo, who uploaded Libay’s photos and videos on Facebook, the tricycle driver accidentally hit Padilla’s car, a Ford Mustang Eleanor, around 3 p.m. in Dahlia Avenue, West Fairview.
Tamayo said that Padilla alighted his car to check, and talked to the driver.
“Nagpapaliwanag naman po ng mabuti ang driver at humihingi ng patawad dahil hindi daw niya sadya,” Tamayo told INQUIRER.net via online exchange.
(The driver explained calmly, and even apologized because it was an accident.)
“Nagulat po yung driver at mga kasamahan nito ng biglang may ibinigay na pera si Daniel Padilla kay manong driver,” she added. “Ang akala kasi niya ay pagbabayarin siya dahil sa nadulot ng pagkabunggo sa sasakyan niya.”
(The driver and his fellow riders were shocked when Daniel Padilla gave him money. He thought that the actor would ask him to pay for what he did.)
Tamayo said that Padilla even told spectators not to be close together to observe social distancing.
And Padilla’s kindness became a hit with netizens, as Tamayo’s post earned 1,100 likes and reactions and 2,000 shares as of this writing. Padilla also became a trending topic on Twitter.
Padilla’s mom Karla Estrada, meanwhile, assured her son was okay.
“Guys ok [si] DJ. Kaunting gasgas Lang sa sasakyan. At syempre everybody happy! No Problem! Tuloy ang buhay!” the “Magandang Buhay” host said on Twitter.
(Guys, DJ is ok. His car has minor scratches, but of course, everybody’s happy. No problem! Life goes on.)
