Gladys Reyes reminisced on her “Minsan Lamang Magmamahal” days with the Diamond Star, Maricel Soriano, who may have served as inspiration for the fierceness of Reyes’ portrayal of her roles.
Reyes took fans to a trip down memory lane with a “ThrowBackTuesday” still from director Jose Javier Reyes’ 1997 film via Instagram yesterday, Aug. 4.
“I remember shooting this movie, that ‘sampal scene’ (slap scene) with her, first time nayanig ang pagkatao ko sa lakas ng sampal nya (my whole body was rocked by the strength of her slap) Reyes said.
“[After] that she hugged me so tight and even gave me pointers on acting,” she added.
The still showed a young Reyes, who played Pinky in the film, and her “Inay Marya” Soriano, who plays Marietta, as they hold each other in a tight embrace.
“Sa kanya ko siguro nakuha yung intense delivery of lines when needed in a confrontation and pag sampal, wag mong dayain sampal talaga!” stressed Reyes, who has been known as her generation’s “Primera Kontrabida” for her outstanding portrayal of villains.
(I may have gotten from her my intense way of delivering lines when needed in a confrontation and when you slap, you cannot fake it, you really have to slap!)
“Very professional! Tsaka na kayo magsorry-han after the scene (You can say your apologies after the scene),” the actress added.
Reyes, who last starred as the fierce Elizabeth Ledesma in the GMA TV series “Madrasta”, said that she misses Soriano and hopes to be able to work with her again. JB
