Postlockdown walk in the woods for ‘socially distanced’ Spice Girls

The group is set to celebrate another milestone next year

With COVID-19-related restrictions starting to ease up in the United Kingdom, social interaction is beginning to pick up once again.

And who were among the first people Emma Bunton got in touch with after the quarantine? Her fellow Spice Girls, of course.

In a recent episode of her radio show “Heart FM,” Baby Spice revealed that she had gone on an outing with Scary Spice Mel B, Ginger Spice Geri Horner, Sporty Spice Mel C and Posh Spice Victoria Beckham.

“As things slowly, slowly start to get back to normal … we have all started to meet up with friends again, haven’t we? And yes, I finally got to meet up with Geri, Mel B, Mel C and Victoria!” she said. “I actually started to think that I would never see them again … well, unless it was on Zoom calls.”

This time, they opted for a more peaceful excursion. “Now, you may think we propped up in a bar somewhere or had drinks in the garden. But no. We went on a social distancing walk in the woods!” Emma related.

According to a BBC reporter, people from multiple households in England can meet outdoors in groups of up to six.

The hike proved to be a good post lockdown activity as it allowed the ladies to look back and reflect on the year that had passed since embarking on their “Spice World” 2019 tour. And while Victoria wasn’t able to join them onstage for the series of shows, they all continue to spend time with each other off it.

“This time last year, we were performing at the Wembley Stadium all glammed up. Well this year, we were in wellies (Wellington boots) … walking in the rain,” she said. “Yes, something you don’t see every day—five Spice Girls in their wellies!”

On a personal note, Emma related that she and her longtime partner, music artist Jade Jones, have been entertaining thoughts of having another baby.

“He would love to have more children. I battle with myself because obviously I would never regret having a child, but I might regret not having another child,” she told the “Happy Mum, Happy Baby” podcast.

“My kids want another one,” added Emma, who has two sons, Beau, 12, and Tate, 9. “On New Year’s Eve, we all sat around the table and I was like, ‘Right, wishes for this year?’ Both of them said, ‘We would like another sibling.”

“No pressure. We will see,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Spice Girls is set to celebrate yet another milestone next year. The best-selling female pop group’s mammoth international hit “Wannabe” is marking its 25th anniversary next year. In celebration, the British network Channel 4 will release a documentary series, titled “Girl Powered: The Spice Girls.”

The series, Channel 4 said in a recent statement, “will tell the complete story” of the girl band “through archival footage and revealing interviews.”
