MANILA, Philippines — Actor Sam Milby vowed on Sunday that he will do everything to protect his girlfriend and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, days after model-actor and Gray’s ex-boyfriend Clint Bondad posted a series of cryptic Instagram Stories which netizens think may be related to the beauty queen’s new romance.
“I cannot simply stand by and allow other people to take control of a narrative that is not theirs to tell,” Milby said over Instagram.
He said that he and Gray chose to keep their relationship mostly private and that it was only recently that they made an exception, to lend their voices to charitable causes.
“But that does not mean that there is truth to any of these false stories and fake news that people are creating to fill in the bills. In fact, these wrongful accusations and defamatory lies are dangerous,” he added.
The actor also said that silence does not imply guilt and that it has been their initial choice not to dignify nor respond to these “baseless claims.”
He then went on saying that Gray is “one of the kindest souls” he has ever known.
“She is always putting other people first; thinking of how to use her voice and talent to help other people in need. Her grace, dignity, and strength even in the midst of all these false accusations makes me admire and love her even more,” said Milby.
“I will always be here for her and will do everything in my power to protect her,” he also said.
Bondad said in one of his Instagram stories that “Dating App≠Church,” which some netizens relate to Gray’s previous statement in January that she and Milby are just good friends who go to the same church and are under the same talent management agency.
Bondad and Gray broke up in February 2019 after six years of dating.
Gray and Milby’s relationship was announced by the actor on his 36th birthday last May.
