As Ciara Sotto marked her 40th birthday today, July 2, the actress and singer expressed her gratitude to those who she holds dearly in her heart, including Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Concert Queen Pops Fernandez.
She has been thanking some of the people she is grateful for on Instagram, through her series #RoadTo40 posts.
Ciara, daughter of actress Helen Gamboa and comedian-turned-politician Tito Sotto, narrated how Cuneta and Fernandez inspired her, via Instagram yesterday, July 1. She described the two veteran singers as both “beautiful inside and out.”
“Grateful for Ate Sharon @reallysharoncuneta and Ate Pops @popsfernandezofficial,” she said. “My [two] icons who, luckily, I grew up with!”
Ciara recalled watching Cuneta and Fernandez on “every show and concert.” She grew up with these celebrities because Cuneta (54 years old) is her first cousin, while Fernandez (53 years old) is her mother’s goddaughter.
“When I’d watch them on TV, I knew I wanted to be like them,” she said. “I am very blessed that they are both family to me.”
Ciara declared that she will always be these two singers’ “fangirl.”
“[Not] just because of their titles in showbiz, but because of their strength and character,” she said. “Both [are] very strong and resilient as a person.”
Ciara explained her “road to 40” journey a month before her birthday on June 2.
“What the world is going through now has given us a lot of time to think and reflect,” she stated. “I’m turning 40 soon and I choose to focus on what I’m grateful for. I hope you can join me [to] look back at the last 4 decades of my life and what makes my heart full.”
The birthday girl has also previously acknowledged her mother and her father for everything they taught her. Sotto did not forget thank her loyal fans as well, despite being “not as active” in showbiz anymore. JB
