They seemed like an odd couple.

Not a few insiders scratched their heads when Controversial Star openly pursued Notorious Host. According to a mole, CS wanted NH to sign up, not as a partner in life, but as cohost in a new project.

The plan, however, fizzled. Did NH scamper away quickly when CS proved too aggressive in the pursuit?

Bosses thought of substituting Upstart Anchor for NH. CS allegedly rejected the idea. Perhaps UA is too hoi polloi? Too green? Too plain? Not hunky enough?

Jackson outtakes

LOS ANGELES—Lawyers for Michael Jackson’s doctor want access to raw footage used for the star’s posthumous concert film, “This is It.”  But Sony Pictures is fighting the request.

Lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray and Sony attorneys are due in court Thursday to argue whether material should be turned over. The Sony team has filed hundreds of pages of documents arguing against the release.

Prosecutors plan to use clips from “This is It” to show Jackson was in good health just before he died. The defense wants to show otherwise.
