Ms. Everything’s Typhoon Ambo-hit home rouses concern from Angel Locsin

Actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin has reached out to help internet sensation Ms. Everything (real name: Ericka Camata) after the latter’s home was terribly hit by Typhoon Ambo.
Camata’s house in Calbayog, Western Samar has been rendered roofless after being ravaged by the typhoon, which has been described by Eastern Samar governor Ben Evardone as “Yolanda Jr.”
The internet star took to Twitter on May 15 to share photos of her destroyed house, but noted that she and her family are safe.
“Our home. We our safe no worrying everyone,” Camata said.

Locsin, along with others willing to help, was able to notice Camata’s post the next day and asked for her specific barangay and town in Western Samar. Camata then gave the actress the details of her location in Samar

One Twitter user who said his family lives in Northern Samar meanwhile told the actress the woes of the island’s three provinces.
“The whole [Samar] has been devasted [North, East and West Samar]. [As] of now most of the three provinces [do not] have electricity [and] cellular signal. [Have not] heard from my family in [Northern Samar] since yesterday. mala yolanda daw ang lakas ng hangin (They said the wind was as strong as Yolanda’s),” @Ner_BaL said.
Locsin then replied and sent her well wishes to the Twitter user: “Oo nga eh :( mahirap nga makakuha ng update sa area. Sana safe ang family mo.”
(Yes. It is hard to get updates from the area. I hope your family is safe.)
Over 141,000 Samar residents have been forced to flee while tens of thousands have been crammed into evacuation centers after Typhoon Ambo destroyed houses, schools and even the island’s produce.

Meanwhile, Locsin is one of the most prominent celebrities who have been actively helping out those in need even before and during the pandemic. Under her most recent initiative, the actress and several others were able to raise around P11.35 million to help 135 hospitals and set up 246 tents.
Known for her hilarious videos and her signature broken English phrases, in which she got her name “Ms. Everything,” Camata also tried to spread positivity amid the calamity.
“The importantly is my family is not ruining,” she said of a TikTok video she posted on Facebook also on May 15.

Camata in the video gave a dramatic monologue, screaming for revenge while she stands atop her roofless home, which earned laughter from her neighbors.
Both Camata and Locsin have yet to share with the public how the latter was able to help the former. INQUIRER.net has reached out to Camata to ask about her situation and Locsin’s help but is yet to reply, as of writing. JB
