What Madonna revealed in her ‘quarantine diary’
Earlier this month, Madonna had netizens amused and bemused by one of her Instagram “quarantine diary” videos, where she announced that she was planning to go on “a long drive” and “breathe in the Covid-19 air,” because she had tested positive for coronavirus antibodies.
Her statement led to confusion, with some people thinking that the iconic pop star was battling the disease. But that wasn’t exactly the case, she said in a recent, clarificatory post.
“Just to clear things up for those people who would rather believe sensationalist headlines than do their own research about the nature of this virus—I’m not currently sick,” she wrote.
She did fall ill, however, almost two months ago while on her “Madame X” concert tour. And she was convinced that it was Covid-19 she had contracted. Earlier reports said she was forced to cancel her tour due to an injury.
“When you test positive for antibodies, it means you had the virus… which I clearly did. I was sick at the end of my tour in Paris over seven weeks ago along with many other artists in my show at that time,” she recalled. “We all thought we had a very bad flu. Thank God we are all healthy and well now.”

In any case, Madonna is committed to helping Covid-19-related advocacies. She recently took part in a fundraising conference mounted by the European Union to give financial assistance to laboratories “with promising leads in developing and producing a vaccine,” according to the New York Times.
“I’m grateful that I can be a part of supporting research to find the cure for Covid-19!” Madonna said.
