Actress Janine Gutierrez is assisting the non-profit organization Tanging Yaman Foundation in looking for 50 kind souls who can pledge P5,000 each for the benefit of Nueva Ecija farmers.

The funds will be used to purchase 50 tons of pumpkins grown by these farmers. In turn, the produce will be given to several communities that will temporarily be under lockdown after May 15. The actress retweeted the foundation’s post via her Twitter account today, May 14.

The actress emphasized that farmers are some of the most affected citizens by the COVID-19 crisis.

“This project aims to help our brothers and sisters from Nueva Ecija as well as underserved communities who need food,” she said.

The foundation also said that a donor’s P5,000 donation is worth one ton of pumpkins, as per Tanging Yaman Foundation’s Twitter post yesterday, May 13.

The donation drive is in participation with the Ateneo De Manila University and the church-based organization, Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan. The foundation also stated how people can donate to their cause in a follow-up post, through several deposit options:

Gutierrez has also been busy organizing her personal COVID-19 relief effort called “The Bright Side Project”, which is also in collaboration with the foundation.

The actress raised funds to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to health workers and food for underprivileged communities affected by COVID-19. JB
