With ABS-CBN closed, Frankie P says she’ll ‘hire’ mom Sharon Cuneta as ‘intern‘

MANILA, Philippines — Thinking that her mom would need a job with ABS-CBN off the air, singer Frankie Pangilinan joked that she’ll hire Sharon Cuneta.

“About to hire shawie as my intern since she needs the work,” Pangilinan joked about her Megastar mom on Twitter.

On Tuesday, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered the country’s largest network to cease operations after its legislative franchise expired on May 4.

Under the Radio Control Law, or Republic Act No. 3846, “no person, firm, company, association, or corporation shall construct, install, establish, or operate a radio transmitting station, or radio receiving station used for commercial purposes, or a radio broadcasting station, without having first obtained a franchise therefor from the Congress of the Philippines.”

However, bills on the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN remain pending before the House Committee on Legislative Franchises.

Cuneta has been featured on various ABS-CBN shows, the latest being a judge on talent competitions “The Voice” and “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”

Cuneta, meanwhile, appeared to be delighted by her daughter’s offer and even told her that she need not be paid.

“Yes please! Gimme stuff to do and you won’t have to pay me! In fact, why do I get the feeling that I might be the only intern in the world who will fund her boss’ projects?! I love you! Please gimme a JOB!,” the Megastar joked.

Pangilinan then appreciated her mother’s reply, as she replied in jest: “whoa there overachiever haha chill kid work ur way up the ladder.”

But despite her daughter’s “offer,” the Megastar appeared to miss ABS-CBN, which she fondly called “my home.”

“My photo among the many of all Kapamilya stars in one of the ABS-CBN corridor walls…I miss you already, my HOME,” Cuneta said in a separate Twitter post.
