If Angel Locsin would have it her way, the actress said she would not postpone her wedding to businessman-film producer Neil Arce scheduled this year. “But if we’re still on lockdown when that day comes, then we really have no choice, do we?” she said.
The actress has remained tight-lipped as to when the ceremony would actually take place, but she did tell actor Richard Gutierrez that “it’s the most important day for us.”
Angel and Richard recently participated in a Zoom live chat organized by Regal Entertainment, which also live-streamed their 2006 film “I Will Always Love You,” directed by Mac Alejandre.
The actress added: “Neil and I even made sure that we won’t have to work around that time so we could focus on the wedding … Chard, you can’t be absent in the celebration.”
Most of Luzon is still under the enhanced community quarantine set by the government until May 15. It was also during the live chat that Angel revealed her thoughts on eventually raising a family of her own with Neil. “I’m nervous about it, but I also find it exciting,” she declared. “I hope our kids will be as cute as your children (with Sarah Lahbati). If not, lagot si Neil,” Angel told Richard, who tied the knot in March with longtime girlfriend Sarah, with whom he has two sons—Zion, 7, and Kai, 2.
Angel also said she admired how Richard decided to turn his own wedding celebration—which many anticipated to be the grandest of 2020—into “a simple yet beautiful and sincere occasion.”
Richard then said the celebration “had been very solemn,” adding that they would still organize an after-wedding party soon. “This means I could still wear the dress I had made for your party,” Angel beamed.
Angel, who has been actively participating in several events to raise funds for front-liners affected by the pandemic, also quelled rumors about her wanting to run for public office in the next election.She spearheaded the UniTentwestandPH campaign, which
raised funds to help setup isolation tents for patients in overcrowded hospitals.
“As an artist, my life is already very public. Yes, I hope to give them entertainment, but politics is really not in my mind,” the actress declared.
Richard though insisted that Angel is “a true leader; a good example to others. She inspires so many people.” To this, the actress replied: “I’m [better as a] follower. Please, Chard, don’t make me run [for office]. Neil will only end up in jail.” She was implying that Neil would get imprisoned because he would defend her and fight all her critics and bashers.
She then turned the focus on Richard by saying, “Chard is very humble. What people don’t know is that there are so many boxes of goods in his house that are being given to front-liners. I know you, Chard. You’ve been helping other people, even before the pandemic started.”
Angel further said: “Actually, I see videos of people helping one another during these difficult times. There were those who gave food to people on the streets, as well as those who willingly returned the excess ayuda (allowances) they had gotten from the government. I would sometimes compare us Filipinos to other nationalities. While they try to survive on their own, we would first think of our neighbors before ourselves.”
