Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne re-recorded her 2019 single “Warrior” to acknowledge the essential workers’ “heroic” actions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The “Pop Punk Queen” will be relaunching the full song this Friday, April 24.

All proceeds from the song will be given to the international humanitarian organization for healthcare workers, Project Hope, as per her Instagram post today, April 22.

“Ever since our world was turned upside down a few weeks ago I’ve seen everyday people put on their armor and go into battle,” Lavigne said. “Simple tasks like delivering mail has become a heroic effort.⁣”⁣

“Warrior” is one of the tracks in the singer’s most recent album “Head Above Water”, released last year.

Using the tagline “We are warriors,” Lavigne dedicated the song’s re-recorded version to “all the hospital workers, postal service people, grocery store workers, police and firemen, [as well as] every single one of you who has had their world shaken” by the health crisis.

The “Sk8er Boi” singer also encouraged her fans to donate to her COVID-19 crowdfunding effort.

Lavigne is part of the long list of international acts who had to postpone their tours due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Canadian singer’s postponed concert in the Philippines was scheduled on May 20 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, as a part of her “Head Above Water” world tour. JB
