Lea Salonga will be joining Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez for the latter’s online birthday concert on Saturday, April 25. Velasquez is turning 50 years old today, April 22.
Velasquez revealed Salonga’s involvement in her upcoming virtual performance through an Instagram post on April 20. Along with Salonga, Velasquez’s son Nate will appear as a special guest during the online concert.
The event, titled “One Night with Regine,” is for the benefit of the Bantay Bata program of ABS-CBN. It will be live-streamed on the news outlet’s Facebook and YouTube pages at 8 p.m. on April 25.
Velasquez also asked her fans to help raise funds for the said program, citing that the COVID-19 pandemic has depleted its resources and “has put to a halt all of its initiatives.” She assured that any amount would help.
Prior to speaking about her concert, Velasquez sang her hit song “Ikaw” with a COVID-19 frontliner via video call on “ASAP Natin ‘To” on April 19. The duet came after the health worker encouraged others to stay at home during the crisis while stating it was his dream to perform alongside Asia’s Songbird. /ra
