Singer Darren Espanto is set to be a voice for change through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines.
Espanto has been named as a Youth Advocate for the organization yesterday, April 15.
It announced, “UNDP Philippines welcomes young celebrity singer Darren Espanto as its new Youth Advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals! We are excited to have you onboard, Darren!”
“We partner with young people, youth organizations and actors from civil society and private promote youth-focused and youth-led development,” it added.
In his first message as UNDP Youth Advocate, the singer appealed for support in achieving the SDGs for the future of the youth.
The UNDP has been in the country since the 1960s. It aims to address three key areas from 2019 to 2023, it said on its website: “improving access to social services for the poor, supporting the transition to environmentally sustainable development, and responding to the drivers of conflict.” /ra
