Author of the bestselling “Harry Potter” books, J.K. Rowling, has divulged that she experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19 but has fully recovered.

Rowling said she battled the symptoms for two weeks but has yet to be tested for the disease, as per her Twitter post last Monday, April 6. The writer attached with her announcement a YouTube video, which showed a breathing technique demonstration, advised by United Kingdom doctors to do be done by people who have the infection.

“Please watch this doc from Queens Hospital explain how to relieve respiratory symptoms,” Rowling said. “For last 2 weeks I’ve had all symptoms of [COVID-19] (tho haven’t been tested) [and] did this on doc husband’s advice. I’m fully recovered [and] technique helped a lot.”

Dr. Sarfaraz Munshi described a vital breathing technique for COVID-19 patients, which could prevent them from contracting secondary pneumonia, as seen on Neil Hester’s YouTube channel on April 3.

The demonstration requires the person to take five deep breaths for five seconds, then on the sixth breath, one must do a “big cough” after, while covering their mouth. This must be repeated twice. After that, the patient must lay flat on his/her back while taking slightly deeper breaths for the next 10 minutes.

On a follow-up post, Rowling also expressed her gratitude to her fans and supporters.

“Thank you for your kind and lovely messages!” she said. “I really am completely recovered and wanted to share a technique that’s recommended by doctors, costs nothing, has no nasty side effects but could help you/your loved ones a lot, as it did me.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some of the symptoms observed in people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are the following: high fever, dry cough, shortness of breath and difficulties in breathing. These symptoms are also common in allergies, the flu and colds. JB
