Sunshine Cruz proud of daughter Angelina finishing high school: ‘May kolehiyala na ako!’

MANILA, Philippines — Sunshine Cruz expressed pride for her daughter Angelina Cruz for graduating from high school, despite there being no ceremony during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

“It was supposed to be Angelina’s graduation last [F]riday. Though the ceremony hasn’t happened because of the COVID-19 crisis that we’re currently facing, know that I am very much proud of you,” she said on Instagram Monday, April 6.

“Congratulations Angelina. May kolehiyala na ako (I have a college student already)!” the actress said, adding that she still hoped that she would be able to see her daughter march and get her diploma.

“I love you,” the 18-year-old Angelina replied.

Well-wishes poured in from fellow celebrities such as Charlene Gonzalez, Aiko Melendez, Nikki Valdez, and Maja Salvador.

Sunshine’s cousins, actor Rodjun Cruz and singer and actress Geneva Cruz also left comments to celebrate the accomplishment. “Congratulations @angelinaisabele! We’re all so proud of you,” said Geneva.

Sunshine announced last January on Instagram that her daughter got into her school of choice, but did not mention which university it was. Angelina has been pursuing a music career and is signed with Universal Records Philippines.

Angelina is Sunshine’s eldest daughter with actor Cesar Montano.
