MANILA, Philippines — Iza Calzado has been “coping well” as she recovers from the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, her manager said over the weekend.

On Facebook, Noel Ferrer posted an update on Calzado’s health after he announced Saturday that she had tested positive for the highly infectious illness.

“I knew Iza is coping very well because of her display of good disposition. She said, (even in jest), ‘Nasa akin ang corona’ (the crown is with me) – while really wanting to share her learnings and realizations as she is continuously battling with the virus,” he disclosed Sunday.

According to Ferrer, the actress was able to sleep well the night before and is finishing her cycle of antibiotics.

“She is OK, and she is thankful to everyone who has been attending to her and who has sent their messages of concern and love,” he said.

“She is better now than a few days ago when she sent a personal video to update friends and family about her condition.”

Ferrer then appealed for the takedown of an old video being shared online that claims to show Calzado’s state.

The actress said on March 25 that she was confined for pneumonia and was awaiting the results of her test.

After receiving the positive results, Ferrer said Saturday that she was being treated for pneumonia and the virus, and could breathe without oxygen assistance.
