With several countries and cities now under quarantine, some people have been joking that we will probably see a baby boom in nine months’ time.

And John Legend is coming up with a studio album that could well end up as a baby-making soundtrack.

“It’s actually probably my sexiest album to date … which could work if you’re stuck at home and wanna make some corona-babies,” the R&B star said, laughing, in a video chat with Jimmy Fallon, who has been doing “The Tonight Show” from his home. “So, I feel like if you’re spending a lot of time with your partner and you need a soundtrack for that, this could be it,” John added.

He then proceeded to perform his new song, “Actions,” the sultry vibe of which will be in line with the tracks of his soon-to-be dropped seventh album.

“The new album is coming. We’re mixing it. We’re getting our strings finished—I’m not sure how we’re going to execute that, because I don’t know how we can distance ourselves in an orchestral recording. But we will figure it out. Either way, most of it is already recorded, and we just have to do a little bit of finishing up,” he related.

“It was a blast doing it. All of us are at home, including artists who are supposed to be on tour… But we figured that one way to bring people together is through these livestreams,” he pointed out.

While performing without an audience did feel a bit “eerie” at first, John said the upside is that you get more “detailed feedback from people” online.

“You don’t get the cheers. But you get comments like, ‘Play this song!’ You get requests, they ask questions,” the singer-songwriter pointed out.

“There’s a lot of dark sides to this moment, but the fact that these can be some of the silver linings that we have, it makes it feel like we’re experiencing it together, even though we’re distancing from each other. We’re helping each other get through it,” he added. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
