Who PH celebs would love to be quarantined with

(First of three parts)

Celebrities are used to having a frenzied schedule. They are in demand. If we could read their minds, this line would flash: “Pahingi ng pahinga!” (May I have some rest?)

So, this quarantine period is sort of a blessing in disguise for stars. That holds true also for nonshow biz people who are certified workaholics and who live life in the fast lane.

All of a sudden, stars have the luxury of time. They no longer need to squeeze in quality time with their loved ones. Now, they have all the time in the world to spend with family, although it’s really not like a holiday family bonding as we’re all held in bondage by the pandemic.

This isn’t intended to be a facetious piece. But just to lighten things a bit, I asked some celebs who, if given a choice, among local or foreign stars would they want to be in quarantine with.

Let’s keep our spirits up despite the lockdown. It’s just a “time out” and not yet “time’s up!”

BTS

YAYO AGUILA: I’d like to be in lockdown with BTS. I believe that’s what every member of their Army dreams of. I want to get to know them better and spend every minute with them—eating, talking, cooking, dancing, playing games and just literally having a good time.

And no matter how long the quarantine, I will be one lucky human being … [if I can spend] time with the seven of them.

BENJAMIN ALVES: Tom Hanks! I would love to have a movie marathon with him watching all his films.

Angel Locsin

ARLENE MUHLACH: Ooh. For fun, I’d love to get stuck with Lee Min-ho and Hyun Bin. I’d love to get to know them and compare notes on how their movie industry is different from and similar to ours.

On a serious note, it would also be nice to get stuck with Angel Locsin. I want to know her innermost thoughts and help out in her endeavors for the nation.

JOHN ESTRADA: I would choose Michael Jordan, my all-time favorite NBA (National Basketball Association) player. I will ask who his top pick basketball players are among the sport’s current stars and why.

It would be very interesting to get his insights into the NBA now compared to his time, what his thoughts are about athletes in the social media era and about Kobe Bryant’s untimely death.

I’d like to play basketball or baseball with him. Just to be able to see him play up close and to know what it feels like playing with “the” Michael Jordan.

I would also like to know how he’s taking this pandemic in and how it is affecting his life and those he loves. I want to know if he believes in God, what he thinks is God’s purpose for allowing this to happen, and what we need to learn from it.

Tom Cruise

ROCCO NACINO: I would go for Tom Cruise. I would be asking about life and growing up doing only movies, something that’s hard to do in the Philippines. As he is not as tall as other actors, I would ask him what he does to keep his confidence up whenever he’s acting with others, though I know what he uses to compensate for it or what angles he uses to not make it so obvious.

It’s awesome how he pulls it off. It amazes me because doing scenes with taller actors tend to play with my self-esteem. We would pass the time doing fight scenes and reenacting “Mission Impossible” scenes. INQ
