MANILA, Philippines — Some of the country’s top artists banded together for the new song “We Heal As One” as the Philippines battles the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Singers such as Lea Salonga, Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, Pops Fernandez, Martin Nievera, Jed Madela, KZ Tandingan and Sarah Geronimo joined in to sing the new song.
Other artists featured were Iñigo Pascual, Julie Anne San Jose, Mark Bautista, Jamie Rivera, Rita Daniela, Paolo Valenciano, Aicelle Santos, Isay Alvarez, Menchu Lauchengco, Michael Williams, Robert Seña, Alden Richards, Ken Chan, Christian Bautista, Bamboo, Lani Misalucha and Apl de Ap.
“We Heal As One” was written by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, while Floy Quintos wrote the lyrics.
Cayabyab also arranged the song, while the arrangement was done by Jimmy Antiporda.
Cayabyab, Quintos and Antiporda were also behind the song “We Win As One,” which was the official theme song of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
As of Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 707, including 45 deaths and 28 recoveries.
The COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses later named that novel coronavirus as SARS-CoV-2.
