Kapuso star Alden Richards is urging the public to be truthful in disclosing medical and travel history to doctors when getting checked up for COVID-19.
The actor’s plea came in support of the Department of Health‘s call for Filipinos to not lie during check-ups following the death of a doctor who contracted the disease from a patient who allegedly lied about her travel history.
“Sa mga Kapuso po natin na nakakapanood po ng video na ‘to, hinihikayat po tayo ng Department of Health na sana po maging totoo po tayo, maging honest po tayo sa mga tanong, kwestyon, at mga requirements po para malaman natin kung positibo ba tayo o hindi sa COVID-19,” Richards said in a video he posted on Instagram yesterday, March 24.

“Please disclose every travel history, exposure to the virus; kung meron man po kayong nakahalubilo o nakasalimuha na merong sakit, na may COVID-19, sana po ay ipagbigay-alam po natin agad ito sa mga kinauukulan kasi hindi lang po buhay ninyo ang maaaring mailigtas, makakapagligtas pa po kayo ng maraming mga kababayan natin. So sana po kapit-kapit tayo, tulong-tulong po tayo para matalo po natin at masugpo po natin COVID-19,” he added.
(Please disclose [complete] travel history and exposure to the virus; if you have been in contact with COVID-19-positive patients, let the authorities know immediately as you are not only saving yourself, you are saving countless other countrymen. So let us work together to beat and stop COVID-19.)
Richards went on to assure fans that they will get through the pandemic together and advised them to stay at home amid the enhanced community quarantine.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stressed the need for honesty as health workers have a higher chance to contract COVID-19 due to constant exposure, as per briefing last Sunday, March 22.
There are currently 552 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country while 35 have died and 20 have recovered, as of yesterday, March 24. Globally, 372,757 people have the disease while the death toll is at 16,231. JB
