The U2 vocalist has released an inspirational single.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on people, healthcare systems and economies around the world, U2 lead vocalist Bono released an inspirational new single titled, “Let Your Love Be Known,” which he dedicates to everyone affected by the crisis, especially those who are on the front lines.
Bono delivered an acoustic performance of the said song through an Instagram video posted on Saint Patrick’s Day—a cultural and religious celebration in his native Ireland. He also gave a shoutout to Italy, the worst affected country after China.
“For the Italians who inspired it … for the Irish … for anyone who, this Saint Patrick’s Day is in a tight spot and still singing,” the singer-songwriter known for his activism and philanthropic work, wrote. “For the doctors, nurses, carers on the front lines—it’s you we’re singing to.”
The poignant ballad delves on isolation and using music to connect with each other and rise above the challenges. Part of the song goes: “Yes, there is isolation/ You and me, we’re still here/ Yes, when we open our eyes we will stare down the fear…/ And I can’t reach, but I can rain/ You can’t touch, but you can sing/ Across rooftops…/ Sing as an act of resistance/ When you sing there is no distance.”
