Celebrity doctor Vicki Belo’s company Belo Medical Group will be donating its remaining stock of personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from the donation, the beauty company also assured that its employees will get “full-pay [and] full-benefits” during the enhanced community quarantine. The company also urged its fellow beauty and wellness centers to follow suit, as seen on Belo’s personal Instagram account yesterday, March 17.
Hospitals have been appealing for more face masks and other protective gear as their stocks run low this week. This situation places health workers at a higher risk of contracting the disease.
To help its workers, an early release of employees’ 13th-month pay will also be done by the medical group. It also stated that if the work suspension lasts until May, a “no work, with pay” scheme shall be implemented to help them “tide over during these trying times.”
“Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures,” Belo said. “Belo Medical Group stays in solidarity with the government, and the people in our continued fight against the spread of COVID-19.”
“We must, in all ways, go beyond the necessary actions for the betterment of our country,” Belo added. “God bless us, and keep us all safe and healthy.”
The group further appealed to other companies to “support their employees by maintaining their salaries and benefits regardless of the work suspension.”
Belo’s company will also keep its lines open via email or SMS for patients with urgent concerns. JB
