How celebs cope with virus outbreak

Conclusion

Has anyone ever thought that there’s a hidden message from God about the COVID-19 outbreak? Reverse COVID-19 , it becomes 91-DIVOC: 91-Psalm 91, D–destroy, I–influenza, V–virus, O–outbreak, C–completely. Recite Psalm 91 with all your might and spiritual strength.

Even celebs who seem larger than life, like Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson, and NBA player Rudy Gobert were not spared by the pandemic.

I cornered some celebrities to get their sentiments about the health scare. The “30-day” challenge is on. The “new normal” may be tough but necessary. Let’s not allow the virus to kill our zest for life.

FEATURED STORIES

In spite of social distancing, let’s make our loved ones feel that they are close to our heart. When all else fails, God prevails.

Martin Nievera

MARTIN NIEVERA: During these very uneasy and unsure times, my heart beats faster as I think about all those infected and the lives lost all over the world. These are scary times. I will use this time to reflect on life and how we should be living from this day forward.

We have taken too much for granted. Now, here we are with so much time to do things we have not done in a long, long time—like, organize my closet, paint that room I keep saying I will paint, maybe write a new song or two, and reintroduce myself to the treadmill. This is a perfect time to reconnect with family and friends, even if it’s “socially distant” apart.

Most importantly this is the perfect time to spend with our Lord and savior. Pray like you have never prayed before, and not just for yourself. We have barely started this community quarantine, and I already miss my usual busy schedule. But the one thing I miss the most is—hugging.

Ryan Cayabyab

RYAN CAYABYAB: We really are but a mere speck in the universe. What can that minute speck do? We have much to reflect on. When I woke up this morning, the first thing on my mind was to worry about the many cancellations of shows and events. So many friends in the industry are affected and are worried where they will get their funds, including myself.

Eh ‘yung mga restos and related businesses in malls or even stand-alone enterprises? Of course I understand the urgency of the present health concerns. And I have complete faith in our Lord God. The peace of mind rests only with Him, His son and the Holy Spirit. A timely Lenten reminder. Whew! What a time we are living in.

Cherry Pie Picache

CHERRY PIE PICACHE: I’ve been reflecting since last night and wishing that these were all just a nightmare, not only for our country and our children, but for the whole world. I suppose everyone is realizing how precious the gift of life is, how human beings should all take part in responsibly taking good care of each other, of the earth, the world, the environment we were gifted with in the beginning.

That once again at the end, no amount of power, success and wealth can save us when nature or diseases strike. Again and again, we are all reminded that no power is greater than God’s, and to keep the faith alive in His encompassing love and mercy.

John Arcilla

JOHN ARCILLA: I wish Filipinos take advantage of these uncertainties to calm down and reflect on our purpose and responsibilities as citizens of the world towards our country and the planet we inhabit; towards humanity, each other and the environment. I will be praying for everyone’s safety.

Robert Seña (left) and Isay Alvarez

ISAY ALVAREZ: Here are three things I’d do: Spring cleaning. Clear the closets of “abubuts” and unworn clothes and shoes. Read and binge on Netflix shows. This shall be done with care because of the “chichi” and the drinks we have stocked on. Learn new songs. This is quite difficult to do when you’re swamped with work. Oh! Life goes on—this is the best time to reflect, pause, think and pray.

ROBERT SEÑA: Things to be grateful for: That I have a roof over my head, shoes on my feet, and clothes. That I’m breathing and awake, and be able to show my gratitude to the world.

My New Year’s resolution was to “reconnect,” but I guess there are things that are not meant to be. Things happen, and we must face it no matter what. COVID-19 scare? I will continue to do my daily routine, but with extra caution, of course. Love and peace to everyone! INQ
