Yasser Marta recently devoted himself to improving his fitness and physique, and the newbie actor isn’t shy about showing off the results of his hard work.

“It helps me boost my confidence. It’s healthier for me. You feel lighter, you sleep better. And my abs aren’t so shy anymore!” the 23-year-old Kapuso talent jested in a recent group interview for the afternoon soap, “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit.”

Yasser has been “proudly” posting more topless photos of him on his Instagram page. “I’m confident about my body now, so why not show it off? Sayang naman,” he said, adding that the workout and training he has been doing, in a way, also benefit his acting career.

“My character in the show, Jun, is the bad-boy type … he’s self-assured. It would be nice I could also look the part.”

As expected, his posts have drawn comments and likes from fans and fellow celebrities alike. But once in a while—among the compliments and congratulatory messages—a random indecent proposal would find its way in his inbox.

“Some are straight to the point and will give you a price! When the comments and messages go overboard, I ignore, I don’t reply anymore,” related Yasser, who was born in Saudi Arabia to a Filipino mother and a Portuguese father. “But when their intention is to simply thank me or if I find them inspiring, I’m grateful.”

Is he worried that he could end up getting typecast in sexy roles in the future?

“If they see it that way, I will just take it as positive feedback. If my posts motivate people [to work out as well] or make them happy or kilig, then I’m good. That’s our job, anyway,” he pointed out.

Yasser, who was part of the boy band One-Up, was previously seen in the shows “Love You Two” and “Kambal Karibal.” He had to audition for his role in “Bilangin” as Kyline Alcantara’s love interest, he related, and bested 10 other hopefuls.

“To be honest, I have yet to prove anything in this industry, so I’m grateful that I was given this opportunity—that the network trusted me enough to be part of this project,” he said. “Things are going well, career-wise. And I’m looking forward to what’s next.”

Yasser had already worked with Kyline in “Kambal.” This time, he hopes to continue building his friendship with the actress. “Our friendship has become deeper, and we discover new things about each other as we go along,” he said. “She’s outgoing and is such a jolly person. There’s no dull moment with her.”

“But she turns serious when it’s time to work,” he added. “I hope we could be more open with each other.”

As for his love life, Yasser said he’s not seeing anyone at the moment because he intends to focus on his family and career. “I’m a breadwinner. I have to set my priorities. I have responsibilities. But so far so good, because I have been getting work,” he said. “The right time will come for love.”
