Katy Perry announced pregnancy to grandma before she died
While the world learned of Katy Perry’s pregnancy through a music video, the pop singer revealed that she personally told her grandmother the news.
Perry paid tribute to her late paternal grandmother, Ann Pearl Hudson, in an Instagram post on Monday, March 9, the day after Hudson passed away. News outlets state that Hudson was 99.
She shared pictures of her with her grandma, and one of fiance Orlando Bloom giving Hudson a kiss on the cheek.

As Hudson appears too weak to speak, Perry continues, “Katy is finally pregnant. She’s the last one. I have a baby inside me. I wanted to tell that to you.”
“Uh-uh,” Hudson is heard saying, to which Perry replies, “Don’t say uh-uh,” and laughs.
Perry recalled in her post her grandmother’s bright personality. “Ann Pearl Hudson was a fighter. She survived the Great Depression, raised 3 kids on her own as a seamstress, making [G-strings] for showgirls and other such characters in Vegas.”
“She was always authentically herself, funny and full of all the sweet cozy things you think of when you think of grandmas,” she said.
“She was a wonderful grandma and I will forever carry some of her in me.” /ra
