These rivals aren’t meant to be friends

As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. That certainly seemed like the case of Vituperative Narcissist (VN) where her relationship with Sweet Vixen (SV) was concerned.

VN and SV were often deemed each other’s rival in their fan-generating heyday. But when they got older, it looked like they were on their way to becoming good friends.

Alas, friendship, like tango, is a two-way thing. When VN decided to seek greener pastures abroad, where she fell on even harder times, SV reached out. Initially, SV’s gesture appeared to have been appreciated. VN and SV planned to see each other the minute the former decided to come home after her unproductive and, sometimes, tumultuous stay in that foreign land.

But when VN finally came home, she was no longer as “optimistic” about the helping hand SV was offering. Asked by close friends about what happened, SV could only shrug her shoulders and say, “We lost touch.” Perhaps they’re better off as “competitors”? INQ
