Kris Aquino expresses support for ABS-CBN amid franchise renewal issue

Kris Aquino expressed gratitude to her former home network, ABS-CBN, as its franchise renewal remains up in the air.

The Queen of All Media posted on Instagram a compilation of opening billboards of her shows over the years, such as “Today with Kris Aquino,” “Pilipinas, Game KNB,” “Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal,” “The Buzz,” “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” and “Kris TV.”

Aquino has been away from the television since 2016. Though she has voiced her desire to make a comeback, she said in 2018 that she has not been welcomed back to ABS-CBN because of politics.

“[W]hile I have no issues with President Duterte, his supporters don’t like me. I know the realities of life,” she said.

Following a Senate hearing on the network’s impending franchise renewal, President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the apology from ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak for airing former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV’s political ad. However, Duterte said that the decision to renew the franchise will come from the House of Representatives.  /ra
