Angel Locsin hails ABS-CBN employees amid franchise woes

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Angel Locsin rallied behind and hailed employees of media giant ABS-CBN as it faces challenges on its franchise renewal.

Angel on Wednesday took to Instagram to pay tribute and express support to all the workers behind the scenes following the filing of a petition by the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to void the network’s franchise due to “abusive practices.”

“Isang pakiusap. ‘Think before you click.’ KAMI po ang ABS-CBN,” Angel captioned several photos of herself with the network’s employees.

(I have one request. Think before you click. The cameramen, utility, art department, technical department, production, actors, directors, caterers, producers, lightmen, crew, tents, etc. Just some of the thousands of employees inside the network. We are ABS-CBN.)

The actress shared her close relationship with the network’s employees, recalling how she listens to stories of employees and witnessing their hard work and dedication to their families.

(In my many years in ABS-CBN, I knew and loved all the people here. I have listened and known their stories — what they are saving for, their debts, who got sick… everything they do is for their families.)

While the actress has yet to renew her contract with the network due to her upcoming wedding, Angel reaffirmed that she will “stand” by these people whom she referred to as her “family.”

“I may have not renewed my contract with ABS since I’m preparing for my wedding, but these men will always be my family and I will stand by them. I love them and this is not just drama, but a reminder who are those who will suffer in this situation),” said Locsin, who has been with the media giant since 2007.

She also reminded those who wish for the network’s closure, urging them to be cautious with their words.

(Let’s think before we speak, whether what we say will ruin the lives of many people, or whether this is the right solution. If there is a mistake, let’s do what is right.)

We have families that rely on us kagaya nyo rin po. Konting pag-unawa lang po. Isang pakiusap,” she added.

(The network’s closure ilwill not help us and our families. We have families that rely on us just like you. A little understanding, please.)
