Catriona Gray helps raise over P350,000 for kids with cleft palates, lips

Catriona Gray continues to advocate children’s rights even after her reign as Miss Universe as she helped raise over P350,000 for kids born with cleft palates and cleft lips.

For her 26th birthday last Jan. 6, the beauty queen chose to raise funds for Smile Train, as seen in her Instagram post yesterday, Jan. 22.

Smile Train is a nonprofit organization and charity that provides corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips and palates. Since Gray’s call for donations on her birthday, she has helped bring in a total amount of P358,500 for the Philippine arm of the said organization.

“[That’s] 26 [life-changing] surgeries for children born with cleft,” the former Miss Universe winner pointed out.

The beauty queen also noted that others may still donate to the organization through this page.

Gray has worked closely with Smile Train since she won the Miss Universe crown back in 2018. Meanwhile, the Miss Universe organization has had a partnership with the nonprofit since 2016.

Along with her initiative to raise money for Smile Train, Gray also spent her birthday with another charity, Young Focus. During her special day, the beauty queen partnered with the nonprofit to give food to children in Tondo, Manila.

Young Focus is a Philippine-based nongovernment organization dedicated to giving underprivileged youth access to free, quality education, proper nutrition and social welfare.

Gray previously worked with the group to produce a song in 2018 titled “We’re in This Together” to help promote the charity.  /ra
