Paolo Bediones’ love life takes a back seat for now

“I’M SERIOUS about my career.”

Juggling four TV shows and a radio program on TV5, Paolo Bediones barely has time to sleep, much less find a girlfriend. And although he can still squeeze football into his hectic schedule, the 38-year-old bachelor said that his love life has taken a back seat for now.

“Bugbog talaga ang katawan ko! It’s practically impossible to have a social life,” Paolo told reporters during the recent press launch of his coming reality show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines.” “My love life will have to remain on the back burner for now.”

Worse, Paolo has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a condition that deprives one of a full night’s rest. “I don’t get straight sleep. There are times when I go to work feeling that my mind isn’t as sharp,” he said.

Paolo’s “Extreme” cohost, socialite and Inquirer Lifestyle columnist Tessa Prieto-Valdes, has expressed concern over his nonexistent love life. She insists on playing cupid, but her attempts at trying to set Paolo up on dates with her “chickababes” unfortunately have been in vain.

“He doesn’t show up! Man, his schedule sucks!” Tessa exclaimed.

Paolo replied: “Work ends at midnight.”

When it comes to women, Paolo said that “age or height” doesn’t really matter. But she has to be considerate, he said. “She has to accept and understand that my schedule is a reality!”

Paolo knows that he’s not getting any younger and would have to focus soon on that aspect of his life he has so far neglected.  He has set an ultimatum on himself: “I have promised myself that at 40, by hook or by crook, I will be married.”

What about future showbiz plans?

Paolo said with finality that it’s “time to move on.” He has had his fair share of acting in front of the cameras.

Paolo was in the cast of GMA 7’s “Captain Barbell” and the film “Walang Kapalit,” along with Sharon Cuneta, Richard Gomez and former “Extra Challenge” cohost Miriam Quiambao.

Aside from “Extreme,” Paolo is also in “USI: Under Special Investigation,” “Good Morning Club,” “Pilipinas News” and Radyo5’s “Sakto kay Paolo, Sakto rin kay Cherie.”

“I’m serious about my career as a broadcaster. It’s something that I want to focus on,” he said.

(“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines” premieres on April 15 after “Talentadong Pinoy.”)
