MANILA, Philippines — Dennis Garcia, bassist and co-founder of Filipino band Hotdog, has died, his daughter announced on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Isa, Dennis’ youngest daughter, said her father died on Saturday night, without disclosing his cause of death.

“For those of you who knew my father, it grieves me to inform you all that he passed away tonight. We will keep you posted regarding the details of the wake,” she said through a Facebook post using Dennis’ account.

“Our grief at his sudden passing is infinite and now so is he. Thank you for being with us through this difficult time,” she added.

In 2018, Dennis’ brother Rene died due to cardiac arrest. Rene was also a co-founder of Hotdog whose hits pioneered the “Manila Sound” in the 70s.

The band popularized Filipino hits like ‘Bongga Ka Day,’ ‘Beh, Buti Nga,’ ‘Pers Lab,’ ‘Panaginip,’ and ‘Annie Batungbakal,’ as well as ‘Manila,’ the opening song used in the recently concluded 30th Southeast Asian Games held in the country.
