MANILA, Philippines — Former child actor Jiro Manio is now facing criminal charges before the Marikina Prosecutor’s Office after he was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man.
In a message sent through Viber, Maj. Virgilio Timajo, public information officer of the Eastern Police District, said Manio went through inquest proceedings for a complaint of frustrated homicide at the prosecutor’s office on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday night, Marikina police officers went to M.A. Roxas Street in Barangay San Roque after receiving reports that Manio stabbed the victim identified as Zeus Doctolero.
As police arrived on the scene, a concerned citizen already stopped Manio, who stabbed Doctolero twice in the back shoulder using a kitchen knife.
Manio is popular for his stint in the 2003 movie “Magnifico,” which helped him earn the best child actor award from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences.
