As people across the Philippines continue to offer help to those affected by Taal volcano’s recent steam-driven eruption, one group has found a creative way of raising funds for the victims.
Popsters Official, a fan group of Sarah Geronimo, will be hosting a dance flash mob set to the singer’s popular hit “Tala” to gather donations for the Taal evacuees, it said on Facebook yesterday, Jan. 14.
The 2015 tune resurfaced years after its release, thanks to its iconic choreography, which many have attempted to re-create and cover, including the Korean girl group Momoland and celebrity couple Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza.
Aptly dubbed as “Tala para sa Taal,” the event is set to take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Rizal Park in Manila. The group will also ask participants for a P100 registration fee per head. The collected amount will serve as the participants’ donation to the Taal victims through the help of Red Cross Philippines, the group stated in the event’s registration form.
“Nagsayaw [ka na] nakatulong [ka pa] (You danced and you helped others too)!” the group said.
In a separate post today, Jan. 15, the group stated that around 500 people have already signed up for the dance event.
Meanwhile, Geronimo’s fiancé, Matteo Guidicelli, along with other celebrities, has also helped victims of the recent eruption by joining the Philippine Army’s relief operations. /ra
