I see a boy and part of me doesn’t want to corrupt that boy,” said actress Iza Calzado about doing love scenes with Hashtag member Jameson Blake, who is 15 years her junior.
The two, along with Epy Quizon, will be starring in “400 Miles,” a project that will be seen on iWant soon.
Iza reported that they first had to attend a sensuality workshop facilitated by actress Angeli Bayani. They were also asked to watch the coming-of-age drama “Call Me By Your Name,” which is also about a romantic relationship between 17-year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet), and Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old graduate student.
“We shot in Tuguegarao,” Iza shared with Inquirer Entertainment. “I’ve always found Jameson very boyish. That was difficult for me. When I look at him, I don’t see a man. In my mind, I would say, ‘Ang bata nito! Para naman n’ya akong nanay.’ It was helpful for me to watch the film because I was able to visualize that, ‘Hey, this could work!’”
The two first worked together in the Kapamilya teleserye “Ngayon at Kailanman,” where Iza played mom to Julia Barretto, Jameson’s love interest in the series.
“The love scenes were intense,” said Iza, who added that she was well aware of the fact that it would be compared to “Glorious,” also an iWant project that carried the same theme. “I haven’t seen that, and I guess it’s better that I didn’t so I wouldn’t copy anything. But when I saw the trailer, I thought, ‘May laban!’ We didn’t have the love scene inside the bathroom, but we did it on the beach.”
She had no body double, Iza declared. “I have no qualms about doing that kind of stuff, although I have limitations. There’s no frontal nudity here. I also had to do love scenes with Epy, and ours were different because we play husband and wife here. It was an interesting ride.”
When she was asked to compare it to her other film, Jerold Tarrog’s “Bliss,” which got an R-18 rating for scenes containing sex, nudity, profanity and violence, Iza replied: “Secret! You have to watch both to be able to understand why I can’t say anything further. Seriously, I don’t mind these things, as long as I know that they’re needed in the story.”How was it like to have kissed both Epy and Jameson? “It’s the same as when I kissed Piolo Pascual, Max Eigenmann or whoever. It’s just work. I’m supposed to feel for the story. That’s it!” INQ
