Right after the MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) 2019 awards night, I sent a message to my good friend, Aga Muhlach. I told him that for me and so many others, he was the rightful winner of the best actor award and not Allen Dizon. Aga replied, “Thanks, Dolls. Love you. It’s all good. Appreciate you.”
He’s such a good sport. Even if he didn’t win, Aga still gamely presented the best actress award, which came right after the announcement for best actor. The box-office success of his movie, “Miracle in Cell No. 7” is more than enough validation for Aga.
With all due respect to Yeng Constantino and Joem Bascom, I think Bela Padilla and John Arcilla deserved to win best supporting actress and actor awards more. For sure, they will get due recognition from other award-giving bodies. Win some, lose some.
Changing of the guards at ABS-CBN?
Could it be true that Wilson Tieng of Solar Films is eyeing to buy the beleaguered network, ABS-CBN? Will it be a total changing of the guards? Hopefully, the existing staff and shows will be retained to live up to the network’s slogan that “Family is forever.”
Christian looking forward to fatherhood
Christian Bautista told me that he and his wife, Kat, are planning to have a baby this year. “It’s been a year since we got married, so parenthood is already on our agenda,” he says. “Although I understand why some couples would rather not have kids. They are wary of raising children because the world is deteriorating, so the future seems bleak.” But for Christian, he’s all set for his “DaDventure.”
‘Frozen II’ in 4D
I highly recommend watching “Frozen II” in Central Square’s 4D Cinema. It turned me into a child all over again. I didn’t feel like leaving the theater anymore. Elsa, Anna, Olaf and the rest of the characters are too adorable for words. The film’s awesome soundtrack is still on LSS mode in my mind.
