A peek at Ogie’s surprise anniversary party for Regine

What a blast I had at the surprise anniversary party that my dear friend, Ogie Alcasid threw for his fab wifey, Regine. It was held in CWC Interiors Showroom BGC. The sumptuous dinner was catered by Chef Jessie. Even after nine years of marriage, Ogs and Reg still seem like honeymooners. I chided Ogs: “So where will your honeymoon be later?” He shot back laughing: “In our sofa at home.” The surprise was a success because Reg had no inkling at all. She thought that they were just going to have a romantic dinner. Reg said in jest: “’Di ako prepared kaya ‘nakapamalengke’ outfit lang ako.’”
It was so touching to watch the vid of the couple’s wedding vows where their tears of joy kept flowing. Spotted at the intimate gathering were Sharon Cuneta, Kiko Pangilinan and their kids Miel, Frankie and Miguel, Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vicki Belo, Hayden Kho, Vice Ganda, Sarah Geronimo, Matteo Guidicelli, Erik Santos, Robbie Domingo, Christian Bautista, and the Alcasid and Velasquez clans.
Sharon was like a high school girl bubbling with joy as she hugged her “beshies,” Juday, Zsa and Reg. She screamed in delight upon seeing them. It was a reunion of sorts. Sha told me that she and Reg will have a US tour of their “Iconic” concert.It was so amusing when Matteo told Ogie on stage: “’Di ba nakita mo Kuya Ogs na nung nag-cheers ako kay Sarah, ayaw niya mag-cheers sa akin. Nagtampo kasi siya naapakan ko toes niya.” Then Ogie said: “So may LQ pala kayo. Bakit kasi nagsuot ng open-toe na sandals si Sarah. “ But the engaged couple kissed and made up right away. They gamely sang a duet.

Reg shared a trivia: “During my 21st birthday in Bulacan, Ogie happened to be around. During my cake blowing, Pops and Martin were teasing me to him. Little did I know that we would end up together.”
She sang “Araw Gabi” for her hubby. While singing she could not help but say: “Naiiyak ako. Sobrang happy ko. Thank you, Honey.”
When Ogie joined Reg on stage after her number, he pretended to be a judge and said in jest: “Parang wala ka sa mood kumanta. Try mo uli sa next audition.” Reg countered: “Batukan kaya kita diyan. Kinarir ko nga ang pagkanta.”
That funny banter cracked us all up. If there’s one thing that keeps Reg and Ogs together aside from their strong faith in God, it’s laughter. The wonderful couple make marriage seem so easy and fun.
Anniversary Cheers, Reg and Ogs. Your journey and story beat all the love songs you have ever sung. To paraphrase a famous tagline “Just Duet” forever after.
