Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez won the award for Best Collaboration in a Concert during the 32nd Annual Aliw Awards yesterday, Dec. 17. Velasquez also bagged the award for Entertainer of the Year. But aside from the prestigious trophy, the two iconic singers seem to be most grateful about the friendship they cultivated at the concert collaboration.

The two have been raving about each other on social media ever since the event and they made no attempt to hide it. Cuneta called Asia’s Songbird her “best partner on stage ever,” as she claimed that there could only be one Regine Velasquez. Cuneta also commented on her fans’ love and respect for Velasquez and the latter’s fans’ love and respect for her, as seen on the Megastar’s account on Instagram yesterday, Dec. 17.

“My Sharonians love and respect you, and I love your Reginians for the love and respect they have shown me too!” Cuneta said.

Cuneta was absent during the awards ceremony and Velasquez received the award alone. In an Instagram post yesterday, in which she also included Cuneta’s photo, the Songbird said that performing with Cuneta used to be just a dream.

“Isang pangarap na bituin lang para sakin pero nangyari (It was only an unreachable dream for me [to perform with you] but it happened),” Velasquez said, alluding to one of Cuneta’s most popular songs “Pangarap na Bituin.”

Velasquez also congratulated Lani Misalucha and Marin Nievera for also winning the same award for their concert “Timeless Classics.”

Asia’s Songbird is now preparing for another monumental collaboration, this time with Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo. Their concert titled “Unified” is set for Feb. 14 and 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. /ra
