How Juris prepares for her anniversary show

Juris

Juris is grateful for new beginnings and second chances. After all, it’s been 20 years since she began singing professionally, and 10 years since she decided to go solo after her fruitful years with MYMP.

The hit-churning songstress is gearing up for the repeat of her anniversary concert at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Center on Dec. 14, this time with Ice Seguerra at the helm (call Ticketworld at 8891-9999).

We’ve always liked interviewing Juris because of her self-effacing nature. The last time she paid us a visit at the Inquirer office, she won us over with her soft-spoken nature and candor. “Your question about how I have evolved through the years makes me nervous,” she said, half in jest. “Because what if [my answer makes you] realize I haven’t really evolved (laughs)?”

Her anniversary show on Saturday will have some answers—and she’s preparing well to make sure it’ll show her in a flattering light. (She lost her voice during the first run of her concert.)

“Aside from rehearsing and familiarizing myself with the flow of the concert, I’m also allotting more time for sufficient voice rest,” she told Inquirer Entertainment last Monday. “And we have prepared a good lineup of songs for our viewers.

“We retained most of the songs from the first one, but added new ones, as well. More than that, I am looking forward to performing and singing better than the last time, God willing.”—RITO P. ASILO
