“Paisley Park Sessions” arrived via Amazon Music a few weeks ahead of Beck’s new album, “Hyperspace” which is due on Nov. 22.
In anticipation of his fourteenth studio effort, the musician surprised fans with a three-track EP recorded at Prince’s legendary Paisley Park studio complex in Minnesota.
The project features new recordings of cuts from his past albums, respectively “Where It’s At” from his 1996 “Odelay” and “Up All Night” off his 2017 “Colors”.
“Paisley Park Sessions” also includes an exclusive medley of Prince covers, entitled “The Paisley Experience” which combines bits of “Kiss”, “Raspberry Beret”, “When Doves Cry” and “1999”.
The new EP came along with the promotional video “Behind the Paisley Park Sessions”, in which Beck opens up about his relationship with the late musician.
“He’s a big influence for me, he’s an inspiration. His musicality, but also playfulness, and the way he performed was really something that I connected with,” he noted, also adding that he has heard the name Paisley Park since his childhood.
“Paisley Park Sessions” is available exclusively through Amazon Music, with a video of Beck’s recording sessions in the legendary studio available on Nov. 18.
In addition to the surprise EP, Beck will soon unveil his 14th studio album, “Hyperspace”, for which the musician collaborated with a wide array of guest artists. Among them are Pharrell Williams, Greg Kurstin, Chris Martin and Sky Ferreira.
The full-length will notably feature the previously issued “Saw Lightning”, “Hyperlife”, “Uneventful Days” and “Dark Places”. JB
