Jeffree Star calls ‘Michelle Dy Basics’ ‘trash’

American Internet celebrity and makeup artist Jeffree Star had some harsh words for Filipina beauty vlogger Michelle Dy, as he called Dy’s line of makeup brushes “trash” on Twitter yesterday, Oct. 29.
Star’s tweet was a reply to one Filipina Twitter user @itsmePHANES’s request for the beauty guru to do an “honest review” of Dy’s recently-released line of makeup brushes and beauty blenders called “Michelle Dy Basics.”
“I don’t have time to review trash on my channel!” Star said on the tweet, which instantly trended, gaining more than 10,000 likes and 71,000 retweets, as of writing.

Shortly after Star’s comment, Dy took to her Twitter to seemingly reply to Star’s comment but did not mention his name.

Star and Dy’s online conflict started last year when Star called out the Filipina through Snapchat, whom he did not name at the time, for allegedly copying his “Jeffree Star Approved” series. It is copyrighted in the United States.
Dy has publicly apologized to Star for making her “MD Approved” series on YouTube, which she admitted to being actually inspired by Star’s series. In both “Approved” series, the beauty vloggers review makeup and declare if they “approve” of the products or not. JB
