The Barretto sisters are at it again. Beneath the beauty of Gretchen, Marjorie and Claudine lies many ugly family secrets that have now become public knowledge through their exposés. Apparently, blood is not thicker than water for them. It’s the plot that thickens.
Just in time for Halloween, the skeletons in the Barrettos’ closet have fallen out as they let the “ghosts of lovers past” haunt them.
But can’t we be spared of the gory details? Enough is enough. They should settle matters as a family behind closed doors. Although Pinoys have a penchant for show biz scandals, there’s also a point of saturation.
It’s sad when the domestic front turns into a battle front. When you wash dirty linen in public, where do you hang your tears out to dry? The combative sisters have everything money can buy.
It’s about time they ransack through their Hermes, LV, Gucci, Chanel bags and unearth the Barretto in them. No amount of designer labels could ever replace the value of a family name and everything it stands for.
I came across this hilarious Facebook post about the Barretto family feud: “Greta, Marj and Claud ought to have a laundry soap commercial called ‘Bareta ng mga Barretto.’ And the tag line would be: ‘Sino ang malinis at nagmamalinis?’”

‘Uwian Na’
I had an epic night at the launch of the music video of my good friends from my fave band, True Faith, at 12 Monkeys. I cannot thank them enough for paying tribute to my mom (Inday Badiday) in the cool ’80s-themed video for their new song “Uwian Na,” composed by True Faith’s frontman, Meds Marfil. (Check it out here: youtu.be/9NUCAo43qx0.) It is also an ode to ’80s Pinoy entertainment.
The brilliant director of the vid, Adrian Arcega, used “deep fake” technology to “resurrect” my mom.
It’s quite a complicated process, but Adrian was able to pull it off.
Too bad that Ma’s impersonator, Inday Garutay, wasn’t able to join the shoot because she had a gout attack. So, Miel Cabañes replaced Garutay as the stand-in for my mom. Watching the vid for the first time gave me goosebumps. My mind went on flashback mode to the days when I tagged along with my mom on the set of her talk show, “See True.”
Super thanks to my dear friends, Ricky Davao, PJ Abellana and Yayo Aguila, for gamely joining the music vid gratis et amore. “Uwian Na’s” catchy melody will make you feel at home to groove and let your hair down.
